Eugene Todd Mr. Brooklyn
Eugene Todd was born in Russia, but he has called Brooklyn, New York home since his younger years, thus the nickname "Mr. Brooklyn." Spending years as a stock broker, he finally left that hectic corporate world for a more enjoyable competitive environment – poker. He has a wife and two young children, and he enjoys staying close to New York to hang out with his family when he's not playing poker.
Eugene began playing cash games in Atlantic City about twenty years ago but caught the tournament circuit bug three years ago. In that short period of time, he has gained quite the reputation as a tough-playing pro who says he prefers to play no-limit hold 'em tournaments. He has a fierce table image and is known for his forceful, aggressive betting. He credits his days with the stock market as teaching him how to be aggressive but know when to be patient; timing is everything.
With much success in cash games through the years, it is the big tournament victory that has eluded him thus far. In 2007, he won the $2500 Bellagio Cup preliminary event, but it is a main event win that he craves. He cashed in the World Poker Tour Season 3 L.A. Poker Classic event, but he really made a name for himself in the WPT’s fourth season. He turned a $1,000 satellite into an entry into the Mirage Poker Open. During four days of brutal play, Todd fought his way through a field of 317 players to make his first WPT final table. He ended up placing fifth, for a payday of more than $137,000. He has had numerous WPT cashes since then, but in the fall of 2007, he made another final table. He ended up in fifth place again, but this time it was worth more than $325,000. Todd also cashed six times in the 2007 World Series of Poker, bringing his lifetime WSOP cashes to twelve, including one final table.
