John Davidson
John Davidson is a retired air traffic controller living in Pensacola, Florida with his wife. He served as an air traffic controller for twenty years in Atlanta, GA and then two years in Pensacola. He thinks that poker is a great second career for controllers since they already know how to deal with stress. He currently invests in real estate and is involved in property management.
Davidson’s wife plays poker too and together they watch the World Poker Tour every week. He likes to fish, but his real passion is spending time with his grandchildren. He’s indicated that any significant poker winnings will be used to travel more, including seeing his grandchildren in Germany. John maintains that his faith allows him to compete in poker and his beliefs have a lot to do with how successful he’s been playing.
John says he is used to handling pressure but has been known to tilt in cash games. He likes to meditate during tournament breaks to calm down and refocus. Davidson sets goals while playing in a tournament; Make it past the break, make it to the money, make it to the final table and ultimately - win. He admires players like Mike Sexton and Tony Hadley, who is acting as his poker coach. Davidson doesn’t like to show bluffs or otherwise give too much information away, but he did make one prediction when he retired. He said he would be on the World Poker Tour within two years. Let’s watch and see if he can land a title!
