Markus Lehmann likes to joke that he is probably the best poker player in his country. Considering that his country of Liechtenstein has a population of about 35,000 he’s probably right. Lehmann is used to being the best. He’s been one of Herbalife’s top distributors since 1991, and earned the honor of joining the Chairman’s Club in 1997.

In addition to traveling to his property in Italy, where his father was from, Markus enjoys golfing and skiing with his son and his fiancée Nora who are both supportive of his poker playing.

He started his amateur poker career over thirty-five years ago, playing at school with his friends. Lehmann found that poker and direct sales have a lot in common, both requiring logic and a good understanding of people. Markus considers poker a hobby and plays primarily for getting his mind off of business and a pure enjoyment of the game. He feels that not needing to win money helps his game and that at a certain level poker is about concentration and not about skill sets.

Markus has honed his poker prowess by studying books and watching professional players on the televised final tables of the World Poker Tour. He admires Gus Hansen because he shares a background in backgammon and seems to understand the methods he employs.  Following Markus' victory at the Season VI WPT Spanish Championship, there's no doubt that would-be champions will now study him.
