Scott Clements was born and raised in Mount Vernon, Washington. His youth involved participation in many sports, like football and baseball, where his love of competition became evident. He then attended a junior college where he played baseball but soon began transferring to various colleges in California and Washington – six in all. He majored in business, and though he never actually graduated, he became a mortgage broker with the hopes of possibly starting his own business. In the end, he and a friend did just that and opened a mortgage company.

During the time he was building a company, Scott was using his garage to host his brother’s local poker tour. Nearly 40-50 people came each week to play, and Scott improved his skills in those games. Finally, he decided to put that knowledge to the test in local casinos and found some success. As his bankroll grew, he began playing bigger tournaments and traveling around the country – when business permitted – to do so. When the larger company that owned his mortgage company finally closed hundreds of branches – Scott’s being one of them – he was doing well enough in poker to steer clear of the mortgage world.

Scott entered the tournament circuit in 2005 and had some success, though his first major win wouldn’t come until 2006. Only one year into his new career, he won the $3000 Omaha hi-lo tournament at the World Series of Poker to claim victory, more than $300,000 and a bracelet. And only several months later, he won the C$2500 Canadian Poker Open for nearly a quarter of a million dollars. In January of 2007, he finished eighth at the WPT PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure. By the summer of 2007, he was determined to win another WSOP bracelet and did just that; he captured the $1500 pot-limit Omaha title. And still on the hunt for a WPT title, he came back to Canada in October of 2007 and won the WPT North American Poker Championship for his biggest cash to date of over $1.5 million. In total, Scott’s earnings in about three years is nearly $3 million. He continues to travel the circuit with his wife in search of more titles.
